45% increase in robbery with violence – GPF

The Guyana Police Force has recorded a 45% increase in Robbery with Violence at the end of January 2018, relative to the same period last year.

In addition, there have been no changes with regards to the statistics for murder and robbery under arms (firearms used) as compared to 2017.

Further, with respect to firearms seized from January 1 2018, to January 31 2018, the Guyana Police Force has recorded a total of 19 already.

A breakdown of this figure revealed that it included 12 Pistols, 3 revolvers, 3 shotguns, and 1 sub-machine.

Since the year started, crime has been spiralling out of control with there being a number of robberies for just last month.

Nevertheless, the GPF has maintained that there is a 19% decrease in serious crimes as compared to last year.
