Woman uses toddler to steal cellular phone, caught on video

A woman who used her child, approximately two-years-old, in the commission of a crime – the theft of a Samsung cellular phone – valued at over $100,000, had her actions caught on camera.

Citizens’ Report spoke to the victim, who asked not to be named. He explained that he was at a store at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, with his fiancé, and had placed his cellular phone on the cashier’s counter, only to find it missing later.

Admitting forgetfulness on his part, the victim charged that the crime was surprising given the child’s involvement.

A teacher, by profession, the victim proffered the view that the woman’s actions are unconscionable.

A check of the security camera tapes at the store, showed the woman, prompting the child to pick up the cellular phone. Once the child, who she was holding in her arms, picked up the phone, the woman made a quick exit.

Members of the public are being asked to assist in identifying the woman and report her identity to the nearest police station.
