41 percent increase in robbery with violence for the year 2017 – GPF

In light of the recent upsurge in robbery throughout the country, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has recorded a 41% increase in robbery with violence for the year 2017 as compared to the same period in 2016.

In addition, there is also a 20% increase in robbery with aggravation, and a 27% increase in larceny from the person.

Meanwhile, for the same period, there has been an eleven percent (11%) decrease in serious crimes, an 18% decrease in Murder; a 16% decrease in robbery under arms where firearms were used; a 5% decrease in robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used, a 6% decrease in rape; an 8% decrease in burglary; a 19% decrease in break and enter and larceny.

The GPF further records that with regards to robbery where no instruments were used, the figure reflected the same as the corresponding period last year.
