Teacher set home ablaze with husband and son inside

Residents of the Cummings Park, Sophia, Georgetown area are in absolute shock after a woman believed to be in her 30s, set the home she shared with her older husband and 16-year-old son alight, with them inside, before fleeing during the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Based on information received, the woman- identified as Brucie Walters- said to be a Primary School Teacher, was in the process of dousing her husband, Richard Walters, with kerosene at around 01:00 hrs when he awoke catching her in the act.

Neighbours told this publication that upon inquiring from his wife what she was doing, the woman scratched a match and threw it on to the kerosene soaked bed before running out of the house.

The traumatized man then reacted quickly by grabbing his young son and running for cover as his one storey wooden home went up in flames.

At the scene, the victim was unable to speak to Citizens’ report but according to his 16-year-old son, at the time of the incident, only the two adults and their second child were occupying the home.

The young adult told media operatives that he was unaware of any domestic dispute between his parents.

Investigations are ongoing.
