Moses greeted with protest in Berbice

Yesterday, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, performing the functions of President, was greeted with protest as he visited the Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary School to deliver the feature address for a graduation ceremony.

According to protesters the action taken was as a result of the unilateral and unconstitutional appoint of retired Justice James Patterson as the Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

Gathered were about 200 persons holding placards. Some of the placards read: “Government Tramples Constitution”, “We must resist returning to Dark Days of pre 1992″ and “AFC now PNC stooge!”.

“We are asking the president and the prime minister to rescind this decision because this decision is an unconstitutional one,” the protesters lamented.
