Money changer robbed by armed bandits in Berbice

Police are now hunting two male suspects who reportedly robbed a 33-year-old Money Changer of $1.2M on Sunday evening in West Coast Berbice.

According to information received, the money changer had reportedly exited the New Building Society premises and was standing in front of the entity, awaiting a taxi when he was ambushed by two gunmen.

The suspects reportedly threatened the man with their guns pressed to his side and managed to pull the bag of cash from his grip.

The duo then fled the scene in a waiting motorcar, PPP 5159, which Citizens’ Report understands was found abandoned later that day.

Up to press time, no one has been arrested as the investigations continue.
