Massive protests looming if metered parking project gets green light

Another massive protest is likely to erupt in Georgetown if the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) drives ahead with the corrupt parking meter project by Smart City Solutions (SCS).
The Movement Against Parking Meters (MAPM) said it has taken note of recent reports in the media purporting that there will shortly be a resumption of the parking meters system in the city under the concessionaire SCS and has vowed to embarked on more protests if the project is rolled out again.

The MAPM is also urging the Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan to not release the suspension of the parking meter bylaws.

The group of protesters had so much impact that they forced the central government to intervene and put a pause on the corrupt project.

However, after several months of delay, the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) seems bent on having the project resumed with SCS.

Notably, MAPM said it is not against the concept of parking meters but contended that it will fight against the implementation of this initiative under a shady deal with SCS.
