“We anticipated a budget of fireworks but instead it was a damp squib,” he stated.
Charlie said the budget has failed to continue the dynamic legacy left by the PPP/C Administration, which saw the country heading down a path of rapid development.
Regarding hinterland projects and programme, Charlie pointed out that the CORE project which was introduced by the Government has failed for the beneficiaries of Region Nine have not received stipend for close to three months.
He noted too that the distribution of school uniforms in hinterland regions is worrying, given the slow pace it is given out.
He said teachers at the Bina Hill Institute were also not paid for months.
The Opposition Parliamentarian also questioned where are the major road improvements in the hinterland, which was promised by the Government. “Roads in municipality of Lethem, they were budgeted for and not a single road construction was done to date. We are in the month of December, what is happening to the road? The residents of Lethem are now living in a dustbin,” he stated.
“The good life they once lived under the PPP/C has turned into a life of unbearable hardship,” he stated.
MP Charlie urged the Government to take the budget back to the drawing board. “Take it back to the drawing board and fix this yakard budget,” he argued.
