It is alleged that Dervon Semple, during the month of June 2017, while he was a member of the police force attached to traffic department, he corruptly collected $14,000 from Antonio Thompson of Amelia’s Ward as a reward in order to obtain a drivers licence for him.
Semple never delivered the licence to Antonio Thompson.
However, Thompson made a report at Mackenzie Police Station where an investigation was conducted and legal advice was sought from the Department of Public Prosecution’s office and Semple was charged since he caused grave embarrassment to the Guyana Police Force.
However, on 2017-02-06, when the case was called before Magistrate Nurse, Semple was absent.
The case is now set for 2018-02-20, for a report on his arrest.
