Goldsmith robbed at Parika market

Two armed men is currently being sought by the Guyana Police Force (GPF), after they robbed 43-year-old Reezal Reektan of $400,000 in cash and a large quantity of gold and silver jewelry at the Parika Market, East Bank Essequibo on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

According to reports, Citizens’ Report understands that around 11:30 hrs, the goldsmith of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, who is a vendor at the market was approached by the two suspects, who enquired about a ring. While in conversation, one of men held onto Reektan and pointed a gun at him, while the other emptied the jewellery case and the goldsmith’s pockets.

The bandits then discharged a round in the air as they made their escape.

No one has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
